By Sandra Travis June 30, 2015

If your child is interested in going to a different type of camp that focuses on developing their athletic abilities, there’s still time to get that done this summer.  Asheville Parks and Recreation has four different camps that each focus on a different type of activity.

Skateboard Camp

Week-long camps are held all summer long at the Food Lion SkatePark in downtown Asheville.  Camps are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. till noon and are for skaters ages 6 to 15 who want to sharpen their skills, focus on progressing, and just have fund skating with other youth.  Camps run each week through July 31.  For more info or to register, call the Food Lion SkatePark at (828) 225-7184.

Recreation Swim Club

This is a great introduction to competitive swimming for any youth aged 8 to 14.  Camp-goers must be able to swim 25 yards and will learn butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle.  The camp is located at Recreation Park Pool located at 65 Gashes Creek Road.  There are two sessions:

June 30 – July 23 on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
