Review:
Close to downtown Asheville, you'll find this unique playground.
Immediately upon parking, you're greeted with this beautiful statue of the park's namesake and one of the most famous civil rights leaders, Martin Luther King Jr.
Walking down the sidewalk from the parking lot, you'll pass by a nice lighted baseball field and then you arrive at the playground.
My daughter was initially a little bummed that this wasn't a traditional park as she wanted to know: "Where's the slide? Where's the swings?" Rather, it is unique from the standpoint that it does not have your traditional playground equipment and focuses more on climbing structures.
There are various pieces to climb along with "wiggle stools" (as I coined them) that mimic riding a surfboard and definitely give your core a fun workout.
There are "spinners" that will get you plenty dizzy. If you sometimes wonder if your child is part monkey, they will really love this place.
For the toddler age group, there's not too much they can participate in except perhaps playing in the sandbox.
