Our family enjoys dining out at Cantina Louie, or as my daughter affectionately refers to it as the "skeleton restaurant." Paying tribute to the Mexican holiday, "El Dia de Muerto" (The Day of the Dead), you'll be greeted with impressive skeleton murals and decor upon stepping inside. The atmosphere is fun, festive, and bright.
A friendly greeter leads you to your seat and is happy to fetch a high chair for you if needed. There are crayons and coloring pages offered to little ones to help keep them busy until the food arrives. Complimentary warm and crispy tortilla chips are promptly brought to the table along with salsa. We also usually order a side of queso as well! Our little guy has recently discovered the joy of "dipping" his chips and this keeps him quite entertained.
While we waited for our food, I followed the arrows leading to the bathroom where they are artistically decorated with murals as well. I am pleased to report (after sending my husband to check too) that both the women and mens' restrooms are equipped with changing tables.
The kids' meals arrive very fast and the portions are excellent in my opinion as we almost always leave with leftovers for lunch the following day. On Mondays, kids eat for $2.99 including a drink which I think is a fantastic deal that makes dining out actually affordable as that's cheaper (and healthier) than a McDonald's Happy Meal!
My daughter's favorite is the ground beef soft taco with rice and refried beans. She is always very excited when it's her turn to order and I appreciate the opportunity for her to practice using her manners.
My husband's go-to order is the Street Corn Shrimp Tacos which are street corn crusted shrimp served on a bed of slaw topped with corn, Peruvian sauce, and Sriracha Ranch. Mmm!
Unlike the two family members that stick with the same thing every time, I'm the wild card that likes to switch it up every time (with the exception of the same drink order, a mango margarita for $3.99 which they offer all day every day = another great deal).
Lately I've been gravitating towards their quesadillas, as they're delicious and easy to share with my one year old. On the weekends, they have elote (Mexican street corn) which is excellent along with a new menu addition of Mexican pizza. Um, yes please!
With the money you can save on Kids Eat for $2.99 on Mondays, you might even want to splurge and order some dessert. Check out the joy on this sweet girl's face. Someone is a fan of churros!
