10 Things to Borrow From the Buncombe County Library, Other Than Books

It's National Library Week April 23rd - 29th, and we thought we'd take the opportunity to highlight some of the more unique items the Buncombe County Library has available to check out ... other than books! I'd like to give a special shout-out to librarian Tammy Silver for helping me compile this list. 


You can find for loan:

Board Games and Puzzles

Available for loan at the Pack Library, Fairview Library, and Weaverville Library

Craft Kits

Available for loan at the East Asheville Library

Eco-Explorer Backpacks

Available at Black Mountain, Leicester, North Asheville, Pack, and Skyland libraries, these are perfect to check out for a Nature Walk as inside you'll find kid binoculars, a magnifying glass, a bird book, and a nature journal.

Hotspots

Available for loan at all branches, these portable devices provide free wifi internet access

Lawn Games

Available for loan at the Pack Library

Picnic Baskets

Available for loan at the Enka-Candler Library

Telescopes

Available for loan at the Pack Library

Ukuleles

Available for loan at the Pack Library

ZOOM Pass

Available at all libraries. Buncombe County residents can use these to get FREE access to local attractions including the Asheville Art Museum, Asheville Museum of Science, Asheville Community Theater, Hands On Children's Museum, NC Arboretum, paddle boats or watercraft launch at Lake Julian, Team ECCO Aquarium and Shark Lab, and WNC Nature Center. You can visit each attraction once a month for free with this pass.


The library also has plenty more to discover from books to DVDs to regular events like Baby, Toddler, and Preschool Storytime along with Lego Builders Club, Tiny Tots Yoga, Tai Chi, and so much more.
