A Zipping Good Time at The Adventure Center of Asheville

Enjoy a treetop obstacle course and zip lining for the whole family!

As an early birthday present for our soon to be 5 year old, we enjoyed some quality family time at The Adventure Center of Asheville where we explored both the Treetops Adventure Park along with the KidZip. We left feeling exhilarated and excited to go back again soon. Our daughter is already counting down to when her younger brother will be old enough to join us.

The check-in process was very efficient. We received our wristbands and headed up the hill to watch an engaging video on safety and how to navigate the Treetops Adventure Course.

There were several rangers on site to help us get properly fitted in both our helmets and full body harness systems  as well as practice using the "smart clip" system for navigating the aerial trails.

There are 7 different treetops adventure trails ranging in difficulty from beginner to expert:

Our daughter started on the purple course that is specifically designed for 4-6 year olds.

She was having a blast until she reached a swinging bridge. I can't speak highly enough about the rangers. Talk about incredibly compassionate, patient, kind, and knowledgeable folks! They helped give her confidence and calm her nerves.

The mini zip line at the end made it entirely worth it and she was hooked. I watched her eagerly go through the purple course a second time while my husband went to check out the blue course on his own.

When he was done, the three of us decided to explore the green course as a family.

In full transparency, there were portions where she didn't want to continue, and she wanted to turn back around or get down. It took coaxing, pep talks, and even a stumble or two where she discovered the harness system wouldn't let her fall to the ground.

Ultimately, I was so incredibly proud of her, and I think she was impressed she did it too. My husband decided to take her back to the purple course where she could confidently feel like a rock star and I adventured off to try the blue course on my own.

I would say the time allotted was perfect for easily completing two courses of your own comfort level. These are not your average obstacle courses; they exceeded my expectations with creative nods to Asheville activities like a sky kayak and fun elements such as slides. I can't wait to come back, maybe for an adventure date with my husband, where we can go at a slightly faster pace and perhaps try one of the more challenging courses.

We had a short break that was the perfect amount of time to use the restroom and grab a snack. Then it was time for the much anticipated KidZip, specifically designed for kids ages 4-10. It includes nine zip lines, and I can't think of more fun way to spend an afternoon. Seeing the joy and excitement my daughter was experiencing was everything to me as her Mom. As soon as she finished each zip line, she would immediately say, "I want to do that again!" Rest assured sweet girl, we will most DEFINITELY be back! If you haven't visited here yet, you'll want to add The Adventure Center of Asheville to your family bucket list for 2023 for sure!
