I love a good theme. When I came across Chugga Chugga Two Two, I knew it was the perfect one for my vehicle loving son. If you haven't had the pleasure of riding on the Craggy Mountain Line, it's truly a hidden gem in our community. Back in January, Southern Living featured it as one of the "5 Stunning Train Rides to Take in North Carolina" (read their article here).

Upon arriving, you pull through the green fence and find plenty of parking along with photo opportunities.

My kids enjoyed exploring the various restored train cars while waiting for the guests to arrive.

Once everyone arrived, we climbed aboard the trolley for our ride to begin. Rocky Hollifield, the director of the Craggy Mountain Line, passed out bubbles to all the kids to enjoy while on our ride.

You can sit and take in the scenery or stand and poke your head out for a view of the tracks. There is something truly special about riding on a train. Perhaps because in our fast paced world, it makes you stop for a little bit and appreciate the slower moments of life.

The private train rental includes transportation to and from either the Riverside Park or the Silver Line Park. We opted for Silver Line with its cute pirate ship themed playground. (Click here to read our review article on this park and view more pictures)

While the kids headed off to play, we set up the decorations, snacks, cake, and presents.

Keeping in theme, there was an animal car (animal crackers) and a lumber car (pretzel sticks).

What truly was the highlight of the decorations and food was the adorable train cake created by Amy's Bakery.

After cake and presents, it was time for the whole crew to climb back aboard and head back to the station.

When we're reading our bedtime stories at night and my son notices a train, he'll point to it and loudly say "choo choo." I smile knowing Craggy Mountain Line helped create that connection for him and truly made wonderful birthday memories for all of us. What a unique option to keep in mind for a birthday party!
