Description
This beloved tale, in which a Kansas farm girl travels over the rainbow to discover the magical power of home, has been entertaining audiences for generations. All the songs we’ve loved for years are here including “Over The Rainbow,” “Munchkinland (Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead),” “If I Only Had A Brain/A Heart/The Nerve,” “We’re Off To See The Wizard (Follow The Yellow Brick Road),” “The Merry Old Land of Oz” and “If I Were King Of The Forest.” This production also commemorates the 60th anniversary of Tanglewood Youth Theatre, which began in the fall of 1959.

Family Fun
ACT gives this show a G-rating. The musical follows the classic 1939 MGM movie very closely.
Note to parents from ACT: Please think carefully before attending with very young children. This is a 2.5 hour show (including intermission), and your child would need to be able to sit quietly through the entire show. Some young children may find the Witch (or other characters) very scary – and may be more scared at being in close proximity to her/them rather than seeing the movie on TV/a screen. The Winkies (Witch’s guards) do march through the aisles of the audience. Again, this may be scary for some children while others would think it was thrilling.
