Parents/caregivers and children ages 3-5 in Buncombe County who are not in licensed child care are invited to attend a series of free Play & Learn sessions at Asheville City Schools Preschool on 441 Haywood Road in West Asheville. Each 45 minute session focuses on pre-literacy and school readiness skills for children and educational information for parents. Activities include songs, puppets, movement, games, hands-on activities, and crafts. Children who are new to the program receive a book each week.
Registration begins July 1 and is required before the class start date. Four classes will be offered: Tuesdays at 10am or 11am, July 8-August 25 and Wednesdays at 10am or 11am, July 9-August 27.
Play & Learn is sponsored by Smart Start of Buncombe County, Asheville City Schools Preschool, and Kiwanis Club of Asheville. Attendance is required at 5 of the 8 sessions.
