A New Resource for Homeschooling families

By Jacqui Castle August 28, 2014

A new resource is now available for homeschooling families in Western North Carolina! Ashevillehomeschooler.com was created by two moms, Jacqui Castle and Anne Asplin, whose children are about to reach homeschooling age. The two decided that since they were spending countless hours researching all of the options in the area, that it would be great to collaborate and organize all of the information that they came across for other local families who are about to embark on their homeschooling journey. Asheville is a wonderful place to homeschool, but it can be difficult to wrap your head around all of the options that are out there to design a homeschooling plan that will work for your family. The goal is to provide a one-stop website for homeschooling families to utilize to locate educational opportunities in the area.

Asheville Homeschooler provides descriptions of classes offered by businesses and individuals in WNC that embrace homeschoolers, suggestions for where to take children on educational field trips within a 2-hour radius, a list of companies offering guided tours of their facilities, an area for discussing various on-line curriculum options, links to the various laws and requirements for homeschooling in Buncombe County, and an events calendar.

The website will be constantly evolving to include up-to-date information and new opportunities for homeschoolers. Anyone who has information that they feel should be included is encouraged to get in touch by emailing AshevilleHomeschooler@gmail.com.
