Trick or Treat Tips

  • Make sure your kids eat a full meal before Trick or Treating so they aren't as inclined to overload on candy!
  • Let your child dump out candy and swap with siblings or friends for favorite treats.
  • After Halloween, put the stash of candy up high and out of reach so you can monitor your child's candy consumption and prevent sugar overload.
  • Be relaxed about candy on Halloween but talk in advance about your plan for the rest of the candy. Swap candy for a little spending money for your child or ask your dentist if he/she does buy backs.
  • Encourage your kids to be mindful of Halloween snacks and candy so they can listen to when their belly says they've had enough.

Spooky Fun Facts: Best Halloween Treats to eat? Chocolate. If it's dark chocolate, even better. Chocolate also comes off clothes and costumes easily in the wash! Worst? Be picky about sticky says the American Dental Association. Sticky and Gummy candies are the worst for your teeth because they can stick around longer--giving cavity-causing bacteria time to form.
